This assignment was made by drawing a design in printing ink on a cardboard surface, then covering the piece with a sheet of paper and passing it through a press. The result was the exact reverse of the original drawing.
The piece on the right was printed from a linoleum block (first). It was handled in exactly the same way as a wood block, but since it does not have a wood grain, the surface of the resulting print has less texture.
The print (second) was achieved by rolling ink over the wood design (first). The woodcut design was done with a drill that has a very fine point. The lighter areas remained untouched and the darker areas were transferred unto a piece of paper.
